BAM 2014 – Event Details

Join us for 9 days of Friendship, Fun & Fitness as we explore our great state of Maryland together. During this cycling tour, you will experience nature’s majesty up close, while traveling through a truly historic part of our great country.

From the first night at beautiful Deep Creek Lake to our final leg ending at majestic Assateague Island, this trip is sure to create memories to last a lifetime.

Your nine-day adventure includes:

  • Parking for one vehicle at our parking vendor near BWI airport
  • Ground transportation of participants, bikes, equipment, and luggage during the event
  • Arrival reception to celebrate the kickoff of our event
  • Breakfast, ride-time food and energy snacks
  • Optional Dinner on each event day (gratuities included)
  • Daily recovery parties after each ride
  • Optional accommodations at quality local hotels in each of our destinations along the route

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Travel day to Deep Creek Lake

hotel-wispGet to know your fellow adventurers as we chauffeur you from our assembly area near BWI airport to beautiful Deep Creek Lake. After we arrive, unwind and relax at our Arrival Party, then enjoy an evening meal and entertainment, then relax with accommodations provided by Wisp Resort.

Day 2 – Cycle from Deep Creek Lake to Cumberland

hotel-cumberland-1Our first day of cycling takes us south on the western side of Deep Creek Lake, then turning north as we pass through the Savage River State Forest toward Frostburg. From there we turn east, heading toward our first destination in Cumberland. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Best Western Plus Braddock Motor Inn.

Day 3 – Cycle from Cumberland to Hagerstown

hotel-hagerstownLeaving Cumberland and the Allegheny mountains behind, we will continue east – we will meander along on the Potomac Heritage Trail beside the North Branch of the Potomac River and the Maryland / West Virginia state lines, then pass through Fort Frederick State Park before arriving in Hagerstown. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Hampton Inn Hagerstown

Day 4 – Cycle from Hagerstown to Cockeysville

hotel-cockeysvilleOur next stop takes us just north of Baltimore to Cockeysville – heading south toward Boonsboro where you will have the chance to face the challenge of Boon Mountain Road or you can select the less challenging alternate. Then we turn north again toward Thurmont before we continue east toward our next destination. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Crown Plaza Baltimore North – Hunt Valley.

Day 5 – Cycle from Cockeysville to Elkton

hotel-elktonMidway through our tour takes us across the majestic Susquehanna River by way of the Conowingo Dam, then we head south along the river to Port Deposit. From there we take the stair step hills up before ending our day near the uppermost eastern corner of Maryland in Elkton. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Comfort Suites Elkton.

Day 6 – Cycle from Elkton to Easton

hotel-eastonFrom Elkton we take an quick “pop” over to Delaware where we enjoy the wonderful bike trail across the C & D Canal at St Georges. Turning south, “jumping” back to Maryland, we travel down the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland, passing through Tuckahoe State Park and ending the day in Easton. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Best Western Plus Easton Inn & Suites.

Day 7 – Cycle from Easton to Salisbury

hotel-salisburuContinuing east, we cross the upper Choptank River as we head toward Harmony, then bear southeast, to pass through the small town of Federalsburg crossing the upper Nanticoke River at Sharptown and continue on to Salisbury. Enjoy our recovery party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Center.

Day 8 – Loop between Salisbury and Assateague Island

pony-assateagueOur last day of cycling takes us to the Atlantic Ocean and Assateague State Park, then back to Salisbury for one final night together. Enjoy our finale party and evening meal, then relax with accommodations provided by Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Center.

Day 9 – Travel day to BWI Airport

Reminisce about our shared adventure and relax as we chauffeur you back to our starting point near BWI airport.
